Lead Fleet Operations Administrator

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is hiring a Fleet Manager in Supply Chain that will be responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of Saab, Inc. fleet vehicles. The Fleet Manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet operations. The Fleet Manager is responsible for making the ultimate decision whether a vehicle is safe for use.


Essential Job Functions
 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State & Local laws and regulations related to vehicle equipment and vehicle repair.

Acquisition:

  • Create vehicle purchase specifications and purchase vehicles for all functional departments, business units and divisions.

  • Establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement strategies, and practices for most cost-effective operation.

  • Ownership of vehicle and equipment vendor selection and purchase negotiations.

Training:

  • Develop and implement training modules for vehicles and equipment use and care.

  • Management of approved operators, ensuring compliance to company policies as well as governmental regulations.

Management:

  • Responsible for all aspects of fleet operations across all locations, business units, and divisions.

  • Develops and administers vehicle/equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposition.

  • Oversee vehicle upfitting and repairs activities.

  • Management of documentation and records of all vehicles, especially areas related to the inspections, certifications, and servicing of fleet vehicles.

  • Participate in budgeting and maintaining costs for proper fleet management.

  • Manage the logistics associated with transport of fleet vehicles and related equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation Range: $85,000-$106,200

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a Fleet Manager or Logistics Manager or similar

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures, from vehicle assignment to replacement, from use to accident reporting.

  • Experience in price, spec, and purchase or lease of vehicles with an understanding of the total cost of ownership.

  • Budgeting experience

  • Negotiation experience

Travel

  • Some travel may be required.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
